Hotel Tourist - Sorrento

Location, reasonable rates, lovely garden & pool.

Boiled eggs offered for breakfast too often.

The bed was comfortable with extra pillows already provided...lovely touch. Air con worked a treat. Location was good;we simply walked everwhere. Shops, cafes and restaurants all near by...including the main square and train station. Staff were very friendly. Got to know we liked tea for breakfast, which was twinnings...lovely. The pool was warm and had gentle wide steps that took you into the pool or you could cool off by sitting on the steps in the water...great design. Pool attendant was always present and friendly and the towels were fluffy and big for the pool/sunbathing area. Lovely lemon trees grown by the pool to provide shade. Don't be put off by the train line next to hotel...we rarely heard a thing. Breakfast was good with a good selection each morning.

Our room had a balcony... But it faced a side street which was disappointing.... :( Didn't spoil our experience though.

iHotel Tourust was comparatively reasonably priced and, while far from being a luxury hotel, more or less met my expectations. I was especially grateful to the staff member at the front desk who, when I asked what time checkout was and whether I'd have time to go to a laundromat and do laundry before it, just waved his hand and said 'Go ahead and do your laundry' even though it was clear I wouldn't be done before checkout time. Nice gesture that I appreciated. By the way, big plus of hotel Tourist that I discovered too late is the existence of a decent self-service laundry business in I think literally the same building, or at least, in the adjacent one (entrance from the side street).

Well, um, it's pretty modest - no frills or luxuries. But certainly decent.

It was a very central location - just a few minutes from the station and around 10 minutes to the main square. The cleaning staff were very friendly.

It was quite a noisy location although not so much that it disturbed my sleep. There was also an expectation to put things on the room number (E.G. when round the pool for example) but, as we preferred not to do this, it created hassle in terms of them having to run all over the place getting change etc. It was also quite a walk to the main arena although not the main square or train station. They also limited the amount of time you could use the air conditioning and it was controlled completely by them.

Central location. Pool area quite good for a hotel in its class. Some of the food was suprisingly good, though it was inconsistent. Resurant staff friendly and full of character. Manager helpful when asked to book taxi etc

One of our rooms was a little dingy and had a small damp patch on the wall. No information on the town, map, transport etc in the rooms

Awesome hotel! Everything was just great.Some things was even better than other - like perfect staff on reception and in restaurants (English is very good, especially after Rome), convenient swimming pool, and really huge balcony with sight of mountains (not wide, actually). Room cleaning was also perfect - they even cleaned our own glasses and plates.

The Internet should be free, I guess, and it will be more convenient with fridge.

Everything worked well and was very practically organised. The pool was glorious and very well looked after, as was the garden. The staff was extremely helpful in a down to earth kind of way.There was a dinner menu for 15e, which was excellent value. The location is superb. Sometimes a nice treat awaited us for breakfast, eg a savoury pie...!

The bed was too hard, otherwise nothing.

It was very central to the station and shops.

Hotel Tourist offered us exactly what we wanted during our week trip to Sorrento. Staff were typically Italian, left you to your own devises but were always there to assist from sneaking us in at 4am to tour/locality advice. The hotel is excellently located. 3 minute walk to train/bus station and 5 minute walk from Piazza Tasso. It is far enough away to be central but not over priced central hotel. Breakfast was sufficiant and generous. The pool area is beautiful to chill out and relax in and surprisingly quiet for a central city hotel.

We took a room with the balcony and the hotel is on a busy junction but is quiet by 9.30pm so if you need a quiet room take one on the swimming pool side of the hotel.

This hotel is excellent for the price. It is very convienient to rail/ bus station and 5 - 10 minute walk from main square in Sorrento. You will not get a hotel in a central location such as this, with a swimming pool, (which is necessary in mid summer), at a better price. The staff are all very friendly. and the traffic noise is not a problem if you keep the windows closed. Rooms are air conditioned which works best with closed windows anyway. Loved Sorrento - would go back tomorrow if I could - would stay at Hotel Tourist

No dislikes

Location was excellent. Hotel itself was clean, and well-kept. Staff was not particularly friendly, but not unfriendly either. Only set-back was the air-conditioning... it did not push a lot of cool air around, especially at night.

Location was excellent. Good budget hotel for a few nights

A bit loud in the mornings when groups arrive or leave but no noise problem at night, which allows good sleep.

price situation

we had to request that the air-conditioning be left on at night when humid.

The hotel was affordable, clean and had good facilities including a great pool. The staff were very good and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable.
